March is here, before you start reading so you know I did 4 rants on this blog in February and, I think it would benefit you if you went through them after.

This week I will start with the talk on school fees in Uganda. First bringing life into this world is a lifelong responsibility and thinking children is some sort of investment is not so wise. We have this middle class that keeps on reminding their offspring how they used to pay about $80 for a term of school payments and they can’t understand why they are currently paying upwards of $600 today. They forget that a currency that is barely backed by a real export base is tanking and the $80 then is equivalent to the $600 now. All in all, we don’t need a government policy on the number of children to have for a new couple, school fees are the threshold for parenting.

Why can’t Christians understand the dynamics of moving out and becoming independent? Look, the Christ you follow moved back to his father’s house after his earthly campaigns for his Dad’s government that is yet to come since we still pray for it to come today. Someone is going to tell me he went back because he is the same person as though he used to pray to himself when he was on earth, it does not even make sense to pray to yourself does it? Meanwhile still on Christ, for some reason, Jesus’ mother is referred to as the virgin Mary even when it’s clear in the Bible that she had other children, Jesus’ siblings. Anyway moving out so fast makes sense if one grew up in a relatively small house, but it is useless to go spend on renting and leaving your loving family in a huge lonely house, it will certainly, reduce their lifespan.

It’s March, and the month is most iconic for its 8th day when the world stops and pretends like it cares about women. Speaking of women, nowhere in the world are women so empowered like they are in Uganda I believe and that puts them at the center of power and the evil that comes with it. The whole iron roofing sheets scandal is dominated by ladies who have decided to insult a whole community by deceitfully stealing from it. Maybe the Americans with their cultural hegemony are right about women and political power. I must sound like I am waging a gender war but in today’s setting I could identify as a woman tomorrow it’s that simple. If we have reached the extent of misgendering the god in the Bible and are debating if he is a man or woman.

Here ranting when the world is at a backfoot of a possible nuclear wipeout with the war in Europe that some foolishly reduce to a conflict between Russia and Ukraine. A spokeswoman of the Kremlin recently dismissed a meeting between Anthony Blinken and Sergei Lavrov as nothing interesting, that is how trivial any peaceful solutions have gone in the last 360 days or so. Meanwhile, sadly, more and more people are sinking to death off the Italian coast as they make their way from central Asia through Italy, the latest 60 included 1 baby and 12 children. It was a very big migrant tragedy.

Someone can’t convince me otherwise that Israel did not send its citizens to go and burn down Palestinian houses and cars in the occupied West Bank, it’s how apartheid functions but it’s something humanity will regret at a certain point.

Then there is the tragedy of East Palestine Ohio in the United States which is the tip of the iceberg but Biden and Harris don’t care about it at the moment because they have to send billions of dollars to Ukraine on the frontline. They are sleepwalking to a disaster after a train wreck that had toxic chemicals.

Nigeria voted for a new government and it did not look so pretty and progressive. The positive was that however divided the country is the vote in Lagos showed some modernity, the other places it was about tribe and religion. The next vote on the African continent is expected in June when Sierra Leone goes through the process. July will see Zimbabwe and Sudan have a go at democracy and in August Gabon, October Liberia, November Madagascar then DRC in December. For Chad, Libya, South Sudan, and Somaliland dates are yet to be set. We should expect drama from Harare and Kinshasa more than what Lagos gave us.

Will be back to rant next week but before look out for a post on the Joke of the East African Community and something on Ugandan Rugby and it’s drama.
